Review of Book - Pygmalion

The word pygmalion effect means that people are influenced by the expectations built on them. In simpler words, it means that people are dependent and have complete faith on what others say. A word opposite to pygmalion effect is galatea effect, which means that people are independent and care on what they themselves think or feel. These meanings have great significance in the book which we come to know later as we read on.

‘Pygmalion’ this book is about a cockney flower girl who is very poor in the field of phonetics. Her dream is to become a lady in a flower shop but to achieve that goal her pronunciation needs improving. Though she was poor, Eliza (the flower girl) goes to the famous phonetics professor, Higgins to improve her weakness. As the story continues, Higgins and Pickering not only pass her as a duchess but also some people believe that she is a princess. In the middle of the book professor higgins started to like and admire Eliza and the story starts to turn amusing.

“I sold flowers. I didn’t sell myself. Now you’ve made a lady of me I'm not fit to sell anything else”

Written by George Bernard Shaw, this play’s humour is enjoyed by many children and adults as well. The main reason I like this book is because of eliza’s pronunciation in the starting of the book and her reactions and exclamations to various things. I encourage you to read this play because all kinds of readers will like it.

“Do you think that eliza was fair with professor higgins at the end ?” Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Review of The Girl with the Silver Eyes

Review of The Girl with the Silver Eyes This book is totally added in my favourites. The main character Katie is just awesome, she has telekinesis which is really cool. But she is different than other children. Why? Because she has silver eyes. Katie is one of the children who likes being a normal child and does not like being called ‘something out of the box’. She takes revenge on people she does not like and helps those she likes. Soon, Katie discovers children like her and comes to know the secret of her powers. I really like this book because it is so old and still it sounds as if it is just recently published. Today’s generation might not think that it’s too great, now that we’ve got DC and Avengers all over the world but if you read it, it will come to your mind that it is very different from ‘superheroes’. Another great thing I like about this book is that how Katie yearns to find out about children like her and how she is always wanting people to call her ’normal’. Writt...

St Clare’s Series Review

St Clare’s is a series of books in which two twins Isabell and Patricia O’Sullivan go to a boarding school named St Clare’s. They have just come from another school named Redroofs. They liked Redroofs very much, and they think that no school is as good as Redroofs. They did not want to go to St Clare ‘s, but they had no choice but to go. They were very stuck up and mean in St Clare’s. But when other students behaved like they did, they felt embarrassed and they improved. They found out that it was very good and loved their school. I like this book very much because of their friends’ mischief, about how they play pranks on the teachers and have midnight feasts. It also teaches us to be responsible, kind, helpful, etc. I feel that you should read this book as it is funny and interesting. The author of this series of books Enid Blynton, a very famous author in writing children’s books.

Review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Book

The series of Harry Potter is written by the celebrated author J.K.Rowling. The first book of the series is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It all starts when Harry was brought up by his late mother’s sister, Petunia Dursley her husband and spoilt child, Dudley who in harry’s opinion was a pig with a wig. Then on his birthday Harry came to know all the truth about his and that he was accepted in the school of Hogwarts. Along with his two best friends Hermione and Ron, they fought many encounters together and finally saved the Philosopher’s Stone from being by none other than the Dark Lord himself. The Dark Lord or rather Lord Voldemort was the reason of harry’s mysterious past, Lord Voldemort  had killed harry’s parents but had failed to kill Harry and he had instead gotten a scar. This novel is so popular that the movies were also made and had been a very big hit. The reason for this is because of the unique world of magic J.K.Rowling has created bout wands...
